Mother, 44 , and daughter, 16 , held over burning of woman
This incident happened in Kulim. A. Vijayaletchumi, a single mother was walking in front of her house in Kulim on Friday when chilli powder was thrown at her. When she fell to the ground, she was doused with petrol and set ablaze.
I do not know the background of the case but I don’t believe in street justice. The woman and her daughter must be severely punished. Whatever the single mother has done, they themselves are guilty of a bigger sin.
I once heard of a woman being stripped naked on the street because she was having an affair with another woman’s hubby. She was defenseless as the woman was accompanied by four men. Anyway, there was no report in the press so it could be it was not reported or it was just a rumor. Another case I heard was when a woman had her hair cut for more or less the same reasons. Actions like these are meant to humiliate, shame and punish the victim. Such street justice cannot be tolerated.
This latest incident is even worse. It brings society to shame if the perpetrator and her daughter go unpunished. The woman who was set ablaze will suffer for the rest of her life. We do not yet know if legally she has committed any crime.
In the NST it was reported Vijayaletchumi is in critical condition. She was transferred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star yesterday morning.
It is speculated that the perpetrator was a jealous wife.

Buying quality furniture at affordable prices
I have discovered how to buy quality but affordable furniture. It is all through the internet. The website is furniturefromhome.com
I haven’t yet decided whether I should buy this taupe leather reclining media sectional sofa or maybe I should consider dark brown leather media sectional sofas.
On the other hand, Leather sofas seems a little too formal for my living room. Perhaps I may just buy curved sectional sofas instead.

Proteins to enhance your muscles
Every serious athlete and gym goer realizes the value of protein when one is on a high exercise regime. They try to make up for it with more protein filled items like eggs, red meat and nuts. But if you are a body builder for example, you may need to eat many eggs to fulfill your nutritional requirements. Your cholesterol will shoot through the roof.
The alternative is whey. If you choose to supplement your diet with whey, whey isolate powder is better. I say it is better because it yields more protein than whey concentrate. There is the other disadvantage of whey concentrate: some people suffer from indigestion, bloating and gas after consuming whey concentrate.
Whey isolate powder doesn’t come cheap and some people prefer to get it the natural way.
Chicken breast is one good alternative. Another common item in the home is peanut butter and low fat cream cheese. The humble soy is another great alternative.
If you want a cheap alternative, consider egg-whites. You can top off your protein nutritional needs with sprouts, wild and game meat, tofu and whole grains.
For consumption of protein, it is recommended you space out your intake of protein throughout the day rather than in one go.

Myanmar/Burma, what next?
Now that the open protests in Myanmar have been effectively quelled, what next is the open question. For some, they no longer respect the government or recognize its authority. Its credibility has been eroded with the open support by the masses for the protests.
It is like a government which runs by force. It no longer represents the people. Its days are numbered. It is only a matter of time before it will be toppled. You can oppress some people some of the time but you cannot suppress all of the people all of the time.
Various reports leaked out of Myanmar or Burma reveals that life has returned to a semblance of normalcy but the people are suffering from poverty. Fear prevails, lack of human rights and hunger.
Some drink rice juice rather than eat rice. Inflation is a real headache and the economy is unstable. Some are inclined to fight until the very end while others hope for foreign interference.
Revolution is a matter of time.
Anger seethes amongst the people. They all clamor for real democracy. The soldiers act like gods treating people like slaves.
Starvation may not be far off for many in this impoverished nation.
Aung San Suu Kyi is the lone beacon of hope for the multitudes.
Many believe that the UN and the US will be able to change everything. Many believe that this is just the beginning, not the end.
