Who is the employee and who is the boss?
I have stopped blogging for a while. However while surfing, I came across this this post: Can an Employee Refuse a Meeting with the Boss? This simple illustration speaks lots of our political system. It is rotting deep inside through decades of dominance over the political scene.
The ‘democratic’ system is so deeply entrenched that the rakyat no longer has a say in matters. To quote Shakespeare , The world is but a stage and we are all but actors in it The voters have been taken for granted and act like bit actors. The voters have been tuned, cowed and frightened to vote the same way for half a century. The opposition tries against all odds to make a difference but it is an uphill battle. The opposition of course exclaim and lament their vision of perceived electoral abuses, the institutional disadvantages, and almost total media blackout by the government.
Let us not kid ourselves. Everybody knows the above. Even the leaders in BN know it. After all they are the ones who created the scenario in the first place. What is more important is will this spur the rakyat to make a stand.
There is a ray of hope though. Citizens have through education have learned to surf the net and find information otherwise inaccessible to them. They are more vocal in their blogs and comment as they see it. However many still write in a climate of fear. Personally I self-censor myself after every post.
Now my message for every voter is : vote according to your conscience. Treat what is in the official media with a healthy dose of suspicion. One has to respect their stance considering they have their owners who pay their pay cheques and we know they need to keep their jobs with the rising costs of living.
It will be an interesting election. It might also the first time we see the impact of the internet on electoral polls.Every vote makes a difference. Go home to vote if necessary. Make travel plans today. It is your right as a citizen. And an obligation to make known your political stance.
